Ever wondered what a photography session is really like?
It probably looks a little different from what you imagine.
There is no need to stand perfectly still, know how to pose or feel completely comfortable in front of the camera from the moment you arrive.
My sessions are relaxed, friendly and guided, with plenty of conversation, movement and natural moments along the way.
These behind-the-scenes photographs give you a little glimpse of what happens before, during and between the final images.
I know that being photographed can feel uncomfortable, especially if you don’t have much experience in front of the camera.
That’s why I don’t expect you to arrive knowing exactly what to do.
I’ll guide you throughout your session with simple directions and prompts, while giving you space to relax and be yourself.
Sometimes we’ll be moving around. Sometimes we’ll stop for a portrait. Sometimes we’ll laugh at something that wasn’t planned.
And quite often, those unplanned moments become some of my favourite photographs.
Every session is different because every person and every family is different.
A family session might involve children running, playing, exploring and having cuddles.
A portrait session might include walking, talking and trying different locations or ideas.
A personal branding session might show you working, talking to a client, creating something or simply being yourself in your working environment.
The photographs you see here are a little glimpse into those moments.
Some of my favourite images happen when you’re not looking at the camera at all.
A laugh, a quick glance, a child’s hand in yours, a moment of concentration or the way you naturally interact with the people around you can tell much more of a story than a perfectly posed photograph.
I want you to remember not just what you looked like, but something about how that moment felt.
